Mastering creative talents since 1936.
Director of Drama Dr Jaime Dörner

Renowned for its industry connections, intimate class sizes, and passion for the craft of acting, The National Drama School celebrates and champions diversity, while cultivating excellence and authenticity. The National Drama School’s NEW Young Actors Ensembles offer aspiring creative talents the opportunity to work together to create, rehearse and deliver an end of year performance for family and friends. Students can choose to join our Stage or Screen ensemble.

Along with our hugely popular Young Actors programs, we offer stage and screen acting for adults and school holiday programs for primary and secondary school students.

Students wishing to pursue a career in acting can enrol in our Foundation in Acting bridging program or our flagship two year Advanced Diploma of Acting.

Established in 1936 by revered arts pioneer Gertrude Johnson OBE, The National Drama School (formerly National Theatre Drama School) is Australia’s longest-established vocational training organisation for acting
and a leading cultivator of stage and screen talent.

Under the inspired leadership of Director of Drama Dr Jaime Dörner, the School’s teaching faculty of industry experts impart their professional skills and techniques with budding young actors in the heritage listed National Theatre complex in the bayside suburb of St Kilda, Melbourne.
